Pinehurst Country Club hired Rees Jones in 1982 to design golf course which is now known as Fairwoods on 7. This 393-acre tract of land between Midland Road and Highway 15/501 was an ideal location topography wise, to create another great Pinehurst golf course complementing its renowned # 2 course designed by the iconic architect, Donald Ross. Rees Jones particularly like the piece of land to work with because it offered exceptional diversity for golfers to enjoy and challenge their abilities.

Fairwoods on 7 boasts a comfortable clubhouse and the community features only 210 homesites. To maintain the integrity of the Rees design, this layout features custom homes on only one side of a golf hole. This enhanced the overall beauty and maintained better privacy for homeowners.
